Invasive Plant Control & Removal
We use various mechanical methods to remove invasive plants while protecting your native plants. Our specific approach depends on the type and characteristics of the invasive plant species present. We do not use any harmful herbicides.
Management & Restoration
We offer ongoing management of invasive plants after removal, including yearly and multi-season visits to remove regrowth and using specialized plastic material to prevent stump regrowth. Additionally, we provide native plant re-planting services, which are strongly recommended one to two years following the initial removal and subsequent management.
Winter Removal
We control invasive plants year-round. In winter, we cut back medium to large woody invasives. Frozen ground prevents uprooting smaller plants. Winter work protects dormant native plants.
Native Replanting
Our company provides native planting services (by seed only) and recommends replanting native plants after the removal of invasive species to support wildlife, improve soil health, and prevent erosion. For optimal results, we suggest waiting one to two years after the initial invasive removal before replanting native varieties. This duration allows for repeated management and removal of invasive regrowth over a few growing seasons to ensure they are completely controlled. This approach greatly increases the probability of success for newly planted native plants.
Our native planting and meadow installation services use a mix of native grasses and wildflowers. These services, which are offered from May (after the final frost) until February, are excellent for erosion control, and support pollination, wildlife, and biodiversity. We don’t plant in the 8 weeks leading up to the first frost in the fall for most plants. Mid-summer planting and installation may need more watering and weeding. For further information about some of the the native seed mixes utilized in our services, as well as pricing for native planting and meadow installation, please see the native meadow installation section below.
